A few years ago I bought a triple CD of the Walker Brother's greatest hits, but I don't think I've ever really appreciated Scott Walker until now. From the opening gallop of Jackie, Scott 2 is a wonderful record. Walker has a smooth baritone that is represented fully on this album. It is easy for me to imagine him as the link between Frank Sinatra and The Last Shadow Puppets.

128. Jeff Beck - Truth

Release Date: 1968
Label: Columbia

First came Clapton, then came Beck. Jeff Beck, not the writer of 90s alt-anthem 'Loser'. Jeff Beck is a backing musician in his own band. Truth is a collection of Blues/R 'n' B (Riddim n Blues) numbers sung by Rod Stewart, with Jeff (Guitar) and Ronnie Wood (Bass) + Random Drummer backing him. It also has Jaff Back playing a random instrumental version of Greensleeves. In short, I'm not entirely sure what the point of this album was.

127. The Band - Music From The Pink

As a fan of Bob Dylan for the past fifteen years, it seems only natural that at some point I would investigate the music of his mid-late Sixties backing band. This is yet another album I already own, so again, I won't bother listening to it again. To be fair, I've actually listened to it recently thanks to my iPod choosing it for me.

126. The Small Faces - Ogdens Nut Gone Flake

Label: Immediate

The pinnacle of the Small Faces short recording career is clearly this album. It has a title which doesn't make any sense, but makes perfect sense. The first half of the album is a staight-forward mixture of heavy rock and psychedelia, and gives no indication as to what will happen on side two. The final track, 'Lazy Sunday' is probably the band's best known song.

125. Simon and Garfunkel - Bookends

Release Date: 1968
Label: Columbia

Folk aristocracy, Simon Garfunkel was incredibly popular in the 1960s. With his split personality, he could be heard from New York to Newcastle (via Scarborough Fair) with his acoustic guitar and harmonies. A few years ago, I bought a boxset of their studio albums and this - the fourth - is  arguably the best of the releases so far.

124. The Pretty Things - S.F. Sorrow

S.F. Sorrow is a concept album about a man, called Sebastian F. Sorrow. It is one of rocks first concept albums, preceding (and influencing) the better-known 'Tommy' by The Who. I will admit that I was pleasantly suprised at how good this album was, especially the latter half.
