262. Nick Drake - Pink Moon

I have no idea what prompted me to buy this album when I did. Maybe it was in a 2 for £10 or, more likely, an artist I admired at the time sang his praises. At under 30 minutes it's probably one of the shortest albums in this book. It's thought of as Nick Drake's final goodbye before his suicide, but it's not a depressing album at all. It's the sound of a man who has made his decision.

Unlike the debut Nick Drake album - which I thought was brilliant - I've owned this one for around ten years or more, and so I won't bother listening to it again. Having said that, I think this one is stunning too.

150. Nick Drake - Five Years Left

I already own some Nick Drake (i.e. his other two albums) so I sorta knew what to expect from his debut. Even so, I was shocked at how good this was. It's difficult to listen to Nick Drake without also thinking about his life, and whether it's intentional or not - this beauty and sombreness is reflected in the songs here. I thought this album was pefect from start to finish.
