The Clash were always the band who were most likely to win the war. And they did it by branching away from punk better than anyone except, arguably, the Jam. 'London Calling', their magnus opus is a double-album full of fantastic riffs, basslines, lyrics and some mumbled vocals.

This is the first in a sequence of four albums I already own, so I've no need to listen to them again. I bought The Clash's debut album a long while after buying 'London Calling' and the latter is better. I'd recommend Googling the lyrics so you can understand what Joe Strummer is singing.
