756. Mehtod Man - Tical

Tical.jpg

Release Date: 1994
Label: Def Jam

I like most of what I've heard from the Wu-Tang clan, and this album is no different. It isn't particularly well know outside hip-hop circles, but it's certainly worth investigating.

696. Public Enemy - Apocalype 91... The Enemy Strikes Black

PublicEnemyApocalypse91.jpg

Release Date: 1991
Label: Def Jam

The third album from Public Enemy will always be better than anything The Enemy ever released. It isn't as good as their first two albums though, so I'm only giving it a 7.

680. Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet

Fear of a Black Planet.jpg

Release Date: 1990
Label: Def Jam

Public Enemy are, to these ears, the most talented hip-hop group of the late eighties. I thought their previous album was perfect, and this album is almost as good.

679. LL Cool J - Mama Said Knock You Out

Mama Said Knock You Out (LL Cool J album - cover art).jpg

Release Date: 1990
Label: Def Jam

I've never quite understood what LL Cool J is about. Is he a harcore gangsta, or is he someone you can play in company. Maybe that's part of his appeal. There are some good songs on here - the title track being the best, but overall it didn't really do enough for me.

635. Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back

PublicEnemyItTakesaNationofMillionstoHoldUsBack.jpg

Release Date: 1988
Label: Def Jam

Chuck D is arguably the greatest rapper of the 1980s. Arguments could of course be made for Rakim or Morris Minor and the Majors. This album is generally considered to be one of the greatest rap albums of all time, and it's very easy to see why.

576. Slayer - Reign of Blood

An image of the album cover featuring a demonic creature being carried on a chair by four people on each side. These people are carrying it over a sea of blood where several heads of corpses are floating. In the top left corner of the album is Slayer's logo while in the bottom right corner is the album title "Reign in Blood".

Release Date: 1986
Label: Def Jam

Why do we have to suffer through so many terrible metal albums, I hear myself ask. As terrible as I found this album, I am thankful that it was mercifully short. Therefore, I will be generous with my rating.

567. Beastie Boys - Licence To Kill

Licensed to ill.jpg

Release Date: 1986
Label: Def Jam

This is another album I already known. I probably bought it around the time of MCA's death in 2012.
