Jeff Lynne always had the ambition to recorded an album that reflected his creative impulses, and his aim was to 'carry on where the Beatles left off.". With this he finally manages to achieve it. It is a double-album, but unlike so many others, it doesn't feel like it. There is hardly a duff song throughout and they follow each other so smoothly that it wouldn't make sense any other way.
