275. Bob Marley and The Wailers - Catch Fire

The sleeve art from the 1974 issue of the album

Release Date: 1973
Label: Island

Legend has it that, having made his fortune sponsoring headphones etc, Bob Marley descended upon London and haunted a feverish Chris Blackwell during the winter of 1971/1972. Ghosts of Reggae Past, Present and Yet To Come gave Blackwell the impetus to sing Marley and the rest of the Wailers to his Island record label, not knowing UB40 would come soon afterwards. Although The Wailers had hits in Jamaica beforehand, this is the first international release and therefore the first time most audiences outside the Jamaica had heard the band.

Rating: 10/10
