Steely Dan are a clever band, whose intricate musical details rewards repeated listening. Unfortunately for them, this is not the way I work on this blog and they have one chance to impress. The album blends jazz and AOR, with complex arrangements and soft vocals. I bought 'Aja' years ago, but have never really given it a chance. After this album, I'll be revisiting it again to see what I've been missing all these years.
