620. Go-Betweens - 16 Lovers Lane

Release Date: 1988
Label: Beggars Banquet

This is one of those albums that grows on you like a similie. It's described as a record about love and heartache. Perhaps if there was a little more variety, it would be worth more.

619. Happy Mondays - Bummed

Release Date: 1988
Label: Factory

My wife once suggested talentless musicians are only in bands because they're shagging one of the other members. Which makes you wonder who Bez was sleeping with? This is one of the first 'Madchester' albums and as such is an important influence on the late 80s.

618. REM - Green

Release Date: 1988
Label: Warner Bros

Green is the major label debut for  REM and unfortunately it isn't as good as their indie releases. They will improve, and there are a few good songs on this, but this isn't worth buying overall.

617. Mudhoney - Superfuzz Bigmuff

Release Date: 1988
Label: Sub Pop

It's confusing as to why the book has decided to include an EP within it's list, but it has. Still, at twenty minutes, this was never going to outstay its welcome.

616. Living Colour - Vivid

Release Date:  1988
Label: Epic

For a few years I used to go to a local club in the town centre that played 'Cult of Personality' every weekend because it has something to do with WWE. I've never liked it.

615. Everything But The Girl - Idlewild

Release Date: 1988
Label: Blanco y negro

Most people will only be familiar with EBTG because of their mid-90s hit, 'Missing'. This is nothing like this. This sounds more like Jacquelyn Abbot from the Beautiful South.

Rating 7/10
